Cliff Maynard — A “Higher” Level of Art

Every piece of art above was hand-crafted with roach papers…

Let me start out by saying how amazed I am by these awesome works of art… Now, for some of you that may not know what a roach is: A roach is the un-smoked remains of a marijuana blunt or joint.  Now are you impressed?  Instead of throwing his roaches away, Cliff Maynard creates masterpieces with them.  Out of all the things I’ve previously written about, this takes the crown for being my absolute favorite thing.  I just can’t even imagine the process it takes to take a roach and make it into a very good piece of art.  With a lot of accumulated roaches, an Xacto blade and some glue, Maynard cranks these out 16×20 inch portraits in around 72 hours!  That is just flat out incredible.  Not only can he create a spot-on image of Jesus (which is very difficult), but also very accurate portraits of some of the most famous pot smokers ever, including Jimi Hendrix, Bob Marley and Snoop Dogg. An original piece of Maynard’s work can cost you anywhere from $1,100 to $10,000 but replicas are sold online for around $80 a piece.  I definitely will be investing in one of these soon…
