Craig Redman: The Guise & The Protagonist Collections

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

These are brilliant.  Craig Redman recently delivered these great portraits at Slam Jam this year.  This is actually a combination of two different collections by Redman, The Guise and The Protagonist.

In The Guise, you’ll find Terry Richardson, Kanye West, LeBron James, Lady Gaga and The Pope standing out among the rest of the popular portraits.  This collection is full of highly recognizable pop culture icons.

In the other collection you’ll find the elites of the fashion world.  You’ll see Dolce & Gabana, The Missonis, Armani and Riccardo Tisci standing out as the fan favorites.  The remainder of the portraits are all very well-known designers.

Both collections are very unique and creative.  I will definitely be looking into more of Redman’s work in the future.

Shwood x BEAMS: Canby Frames

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

A fresh new collab from Shwood (Portland) & BEAMS (Japan) just in time for the fall…

Shwood is Portland-based company that specializes in the creation of excellent quality, handcrafted wooden sunglasses.  They have partnered with Japanese retail giant BEAMS to (re)create two versions of Shwood’s best selling and most popular Canby model.

One is a sandy brown Zebrawood/East Indian Rosewood stack, and the other is a darker hued East Indian Rosewood with Maple inner ply. The frames are modeled after the classic Wayfarer frame, but these Canbys feature an exclusive BEAMS logo etched on the inner arm for a sense of exclusivity.

These are both manufactured in a very limited quantity but you can pick up a pair now at Bricksworth!

Introducing: pARlaiTin Wire Sculptures

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

I’m a huge fan of unique art… Check out this great display of creativity & talent.

One day last week, I received a  random Twitter mention for @pARlaiTin with a comment that says “Check out our sneakers made of wire!”  So, as most people would… I checked out the link attached.  After opening that link, I discovered one of the most unique art forms still alive today, wire sculptures.  Quality wire sculptures, might I add.

pARlaiTin is the company.  Curtis Anthony is the man behind the wires.  He does more than just wire sneakers, I just chose to display them because they are my favorite.  You can check out his work here to see his complete collection of hand made sculptures.

If you like one, buy one!  I plan on doing so in the near future.

Introducing: DeadHeart

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Simplicity is often most effective.  Perfect example right here, DeadHeart.

I have to thank my girl Tiara Thomas for putting me on to DeadHeart a few weeks ago via Twitter.  DeadHeart is an accessory company based of out Brooklyn that specializes in using leather to create great additions to any outfit.  The word is spreading fast and as you can see, some celebrities are already getting their hands on these great pieces.  Check out MMG’s Stalley rocking one above.

The design is exactly what you’d think it was.  A dead heart.  A handcrafted, leather diamond themed heart, with two X’s for eyes and a pin on the back.  Anytime you feel you’re missing something in your outfit, this could be the perfect addition to your cardigan, jacket, t shirt, or wherever else you’d like to pin it.

Make you you check them out as they make progress and come up with more innovative, dope accessories!

Have at it: http://www.deadheartnyc.com/

The Emotion Lab: Moon Watch

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

One of the most intriguing things I have EVER seen…

The moon has been a guide and object of admiration and mysticism during thousands of years. Agriculture, fertility, tidal patterns, human behaviour and many other activities have been linked to the different moon phases.

Moonwatch has been designed to establish a relationship between the moon cycle and a person’s emotional states. It’s a new concept of time based on nature which invites people to reflect upon and gain a closer understanding of their mood and daily life on earth.

Those are the words of the creators of this fascinating piece.  The Emotion Lab is a company with 4 designers coming 3 different countries that came together to do more than just create a product for the market.  They use a very innovative approach to every one of their projects and the final product is always an unforgettable, unique work of art.  There is no boundaries that they design within, which is something that I respect and admire.  Bottom line, they make dope stuff.

I’m actually kind of still uncertain of all the details of this watch, but I love it.  Right now, this is the conceptual design of the watch.  As more details come, I will update you on them but until then… just sit back and wait for this thing to come out!  I guarantee I will own one withing the week of its release.
